Apart from acquired ear deformities, microtia is one of the most commonest and most complex conditions that present for reconstruction.Ear reconstruction is performed at least in 3-4 stages.
In the first stage, rib cartilages are obtained en bloc from the side contralateral to the ear being reconstructed. Framework fabrication and implantation of it is performed after harvesting of rib cartilages. Detaching the posterior auricular region is performed in second stage. The three stage combines tragus construction, conchal excavation, and simultaneous contralateral otoplasty.
